31DC2015 Update

Hey guys!

I know I haven't posted for a while, so I just wanted to explain what's been happening and apologize for going (kinda) missing.  I've been swamped with school and homework that I've barely managed to squeeze in the time for this challenge.  I think it's quite clear that I'm not going to make it by the end of September, but I'm definitely going to continue with the prompts.  I've accomplished so much over the course of this challenge, it would really be a shame to give up now.  There's no doubt that I'm going to give this another shot next year, but for now I think I'm going to stick to posting about twice a week or so. Thank you for being patient with me, and I'm sure my schedule will even out soon :)

31DC2015 Day 10: Cotton Candy Swirl

As you all know, today's prompt was gradient nails. Rather than doing a traditional gradient however, I decided to go for a more spongy, fluffy look with my design. The idea was to recreate the illusion of cotton candy, and I think it turned out pretty well. I added a thin verticle

31DC2015 Day 09: Rainbows and Glitter

Rainbows are known for being beams of hope and light through the darkness of rain. I think this manicure captures the colorful, happy feeling that a rainbow brings. There's nothing like glitter to make your life a little brighter, and I made sure to sprinkle in bits of gold to represent the tiny miracles that you receive every single day.

31DC2015 Day 08: Flash Tattoos

I think flash tattoos are one of the coolest things in the world, and I recently ordered a giant package of them from amazon.  Since today's prompt is metallic nails, I decided to experiment a little bit and see if flash tattoos worked over nail polish. I'm satisfied with how it turned out, and I'll probably be trying another design like this sometime soon.

31DC2015 Day 07: Black and White Polka Dots

The other day, I happened to be scrolling through pinterest when I came across a super cute cuticle art mani. I was inspired, and decided to create my own cuticle art look.  Since today's prompt is black and white nails, I chose a basic polka dot manicure, and made it my own by adding a few dots on my cuticles.  Cuticle art is definitely my new favorite trend, since it makes any manicure so much more unique.

31DC2015 Day 06: Violet Petals and Watercolor

Today's manicure was inspired by "Violet Petals and Watercolor". Violets are probably one of my favorite flowers, due to their dreamy, faded ombre look.  I decided to recreate the watercolor-like effect for today's Purple Prompt.

31DC2015 Day 05: Nautical Blue

I mixed several designs together to create this manicure, and after taking a long look at the finished product, I realized that something about it looked nautical. Probably the stripes. I don't know. But in the end, this is one of my favorite personal designs to this point. There's nothing I love more than glitter, and the gold flakes on the ring finger add a unique sort of sparkle to the manicure.

31DC2015 Day 04: Green Geometric Nails

I'm so glad the Green Nails Prompt is finally here! I've been waiting for a chance to do another negative space manicure, since I haven't done one in a while. This manicure took a surprising amount of time considering it was just a green, sparkly triangle, but I'm more than satisfied with how it came out.  I love how geometric this design is, and how fun the glitter makes it look!

31DC2015 Day 03: Lemon Ice Cream

I feel like yellow is such an underrated color in the nail polish world.  Not only is a pastel yellow gorgeous on its own, but there's no limit to the designs you can create with neon yellow polish. Since today's prompt is yellow nails, I found my sweetest yellow polish, and decided to create a unique design with it.

31DC2015 Day 02: Funky French Tips

One of my favorite manicures ever is the french tip. It's so easy to do, and even easier to customize. Today's prompt was orange nails, so I decided to add a twist to the traditional french tip and make it a deep shade of orange. To keep the elegance of a regular french tip, however, I added a stripe of silver nail tape directly below the layer of orange, and ta-da! A super easy, super cute way to personalize your standard french manicure!
